Brief description of the incident (place, time, involved boats, infringed rule):
As we were approaching to round around Mark 2, I was on port tack and to windward of another boat (221858 NED) that was approaching on starboard tack. While I believed I was crossing ahead of the starboard-tack boat safely, I could not be completely certain that I had not infringed RRS 10 (On Opposite Tacks).
Therefore, in order to exonerate myself in accordance with RRS 44.1, I chose to perform a Two-Turns Penalty (720°).
At that time, boats from Blue fleet were rounding/approaching the mark at the same moment, creating heavy traffic. I was on the second upwind leg heading toward the final downwind leg, and I chose to perform my penalty immediately after creating enough safe space from both fleets.I executed the penalty slightly above and beyond Mark 2, ensuring that I did not interfere with other boats.
My penalty turn was,
Performed as soon as possible after the incident
Executed safely, away from congested traffic
Fully compliant with RRS 44.1, without gaining advantage or affecting others
